Officers will be spending more time on the beat in Clacton town centre during the summer holidays after £20,000 of additional funding has been provided by Tendring District Council (TDC) and Essex Police.
TDC has committed £15,000 to Operation Spider, while Essex Police has agreed £5,000. The operation is designed to deal with the natural increase of criminal activity during the summertime and to provide reassurance for local people that criminals are being both deterred and dealt with.
High visibility policing during the day will also allow officers to interact more with the community, particularly young people, and businesses. The operation will target those causing trouble, and some patrols will be joined by accredited officers from TDC.
Local Conservatives are backing the campaign, the aim being to increase public confidence in their police. If they know the police are patrolling around, they should feel safe and know that the police are on their side.
